WITH SO MUCH BAD NEWS, HOW COULD THE MARKET BE SO GOOD?
As our country struggles to deal with a viral pandemic, civil unrest, and an economic crisis, the real estate market in Washington Park has seen little effect. Volume of sales is down only slightly. That is likely due to the 3 weeks when real estate showings were not allowed and the continued low inventory. Prices have continued to increase.
Although many are saying that these times will permanently affect how we look at life and therefore real estate, so far we have not seen many trends. The biggest trend is that buyers are trying to take advantage of the interest rates that are lowest seen in over 40 years. Financing below 3% provides both real savings in monthly payments plus building equity much faster by paying down much more principal and much less interest every month. We are seeing some of our clients move closer to family, move to larger homes to accommodate working from home, and look for a larger yard to allow outdoor living at a safer social distance.
